Watch: First Look At NBC’s ‘Hairspray Live!’

From The Sound of Music Live! to Peter Pan Live!, comes yet another live TV musical.

On Friday night (August 19th) during the Olympic telecast, NBC released a first look at Hairspray Live! – based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical.

In the short teaser, we get a look at the characters in costume together for the first time, with Ariana Grande rocking pigtails as Penny Pingleton. The full 30-second spot debuts on-air during the Olympics tonight.

The cast of Hairspray Live! includes newcomer Maddie Baillios as wannabe dancer Tracy Turnblad, Harvey Fierstein as her mother Edna, Jennifer Hudson as celebrity disk jockey Motormouth Maybelle, Kristin Chenoweth as villainous producer Velma Von Tussle, Martin Short as joke-shop owner Wilbur Turnblad, Derek Hough as afternoon TV host Corny Collins, Dove Cameron as dancer-slash-mean girl Amber Von Tussle, Garrett Clayton as heartthrob Link Larkin, as well as special guests Sean Hayes, Andrea Martin and Rosie O’Donnell.

Hairspray Live! is set to air December 7th at 8pm ET on NBC! Check out the preview below:
