Some credit is due to Howard and Guy Lawrence of Disclosure for introducing the world to Sam Smith. Both artists collaborated on 2012’s smash hit “Latch”, which started the careers of the UK artist. The single hit the top of charts in the UK and later reached the top of the charts in the US in 2013-2014. The single went to platinum status and catapulted both artist careers to super stardom which brought Grammy wins, platinum albums, and sold out shows worldwide.
With that type of success it only makes sense for both side to work once again. Howard Lawrence spoke to Entertainment Weekly saying, “It just would have felt wrong to not have Smith on the record. We speak to Sam everyday. He’s our best mate. And he’s the best singer in the world. Why would we not put him on the record?”
Disclosure released the video for their single “Omen”, from their new album Caracal. The video stars Smith in a club singing and grooving before things start take a turn for the worst. The single proves that the magic the artists captured in “Latch” hasn’t fizzled away. The video also leaves fans wanting more from Disclosure and Sam Smith in the near future.
The video is part two of a four part video series to promote their new album that will release on September 25th. The video was directed by Ryan Hope and tells the story of a woman named Mariela who has a special secret that might bring peace to her family and the world.
