A group of 1,000 musicians in Cesena, Italy came together to play a cover of the Foo Fighters’ “Learn to Fly.”
The event was organized by Rockin’ 1000 with the hope that the Foo Fighters would come perform a concert in the Romagna region of Italy. The video, which shows numerous guitarists, drummers, and singers performing the song in unison, was posted to YouTube Thursday and has received over 500,000 views.
On the Rockin’ 1000 website, Fabio Zaffagnini explains that the idea for the stunt came about in May 2014 and describes the journey to making it happen.
After the performance, Zaffagnini states that the video is for Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins, and Chris Shiflett of the Foo Fighters. “You know, Italy is a country where dreams can not easily come true, but it’s a land of passion and creativity,” he said. “So what we did in here is just a huge, huge miracle.”
The video concludes with the crowd erupting into a chant of “Foo Fighters.”
