David Fincher’s Gone Girl won’t be released until early October, however, Trent Reznor is giving fans a preview of the ominous soundtrack.
The Nine Inch Nails frontman scored the film with co-composer Atticus Ross and Fincher. The trio previously worked together on The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and the Oscar-winning original score for The Social Network.
During an interview with the Wall Street Journal about the soundtrack, Reznor said, “Think about the really terrible music you hear in massage parlors.” (He later corrected this to “a spa, not a massage parlor.”)
The musician continued, “The way that it artificially tries to make you feel like everything’s OK. And then imagine that sound starting to curdle and unravel.”
The film adaptation of the novel, written by Gillian Flynn, stars Ben Affleck as the leading man who becomes a murder suspect after the disappearance of his wife (Rosamund Pike).
While you wait in anticipation for the film and the soundtrack, check out a preview of the scores on the Nine Inch Nails website. The album, which includes 24 songs, will be out digitally on September 30th with a subsequent double LP release.
