Too Short Arrested for DUI, Flees Police

West Coast rapper Too Short was arrested early Wednesday for allegedly driving under the influence after trying to flee police on foot during his sobriety test.  The rapper was rearrested and charged with felony drug possession after he reportedly tried to ditch narcotics in the back of a police cruiser.

“He was stopped for DUI investigation, ran from officers and actually tripped and fell,” Los Angeles police officer Lt. Marc Reina told New York’s Daily News.  “He got maybe half a block and was taken into custody there.”

Too Short was first arrested at 3:10 a.m. near Hollywood Boulevard and Las Palmas Avenue on Wednesday morning for suspicion of driving under the influence and then again at 5:58 a.m for felony drug possession.

This is not the first time the 46-year-old rapper has been arrested.  In 2009 he was arrested in Las Vegas for suspicion of DUI and other charges.   In 2010 he was arrested following a performance at an Idaho nightclub for misdemeanor battery charges.

There have been rumors, but no proof, that Too Short is somehow involved in the February 2013 Las Vegas strip shooting that left three people dead including Oakland rapper Kenny Clutch.  According to Too Short’s Facebook page he had, “no knowledge or connection to this incident.”

Born Todd Anthony Shaw, Too Short came to prominence in the 1988 with his album Life is…Too Short.  He is best known for his singles “Life Is…Too Short,” “The Ghetto,” “Burn Rubber” and “Blow the Whistle.”
