The Beatles recorded “Twist & Shout” and “I Saw Her Standing There,” both released on the Beatles’ first UK album, Please Please Me (1963).
1964
The Beatles played their first U.S. concert at the Collisseum in Washington, DC. The set list included, “Roll Over Beethoven”, “From Me to You”, “I Saw Her Standing There”, “This Boy”, “All My Loving”, “I Wanna Be Your Man”, “Please Please Me”, “She Loves You”, “I Want to Hold Your Hand”, “Twist and Shout” and “Long Tall Sally”.
1966
Cher recorded “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down),” which was written by her then-husband Sonny Bono. The song reached No. 3 in the UK Singles Chart and No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a single week.
1970
The film The Magic Christian, featuring Ringo Starr and Peter Sellers, debuted in New York City. Directed by Joseph McGrath the film included appearances by John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Raquel Welch, Spike Milligan, Christopher Lee, Richard Attenborough and Roman Polanski. It was loosely adapted from the 1959 comic novel of the same name by U.S. author Terry Southern.

David Bowie performed as “Ziggy Stardust” for the first time.
1986
Boy George guest-stared on an episode of “The A-Team.”
1986
The single “Superbowl Shuffle” by the Chicago Bears Shufflin’ Crew was certified gold by the RIAA.
1994
Prince premiered his song “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World” on the 1994 Miss USA Pageant.
2001
OutKast went to No.1 on the US singles chart with “Ms Jackson”, a No.2 hit in the UK. Shaggy started a four-week run at No.1 on the US album chart with “Hotspot”.
2012
Legendary singer Whitney Houston was found dead in suite 434 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, submerged in the bathtub. Beverly Hills paramedics arrived at approximately 3:30 p.m. and found Houston unresponsive and performed CPR. She was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. Local police said there were “no obvious signs of criminal intent.” It was later ruled by the coroner to have been an “accidental drowning”.
