The soundtrack to The Graduate, an American comedy/drama directed by Mike Nichols, was released. The film boosted the profile of folk-rock duo Simon & Garfunkel, so much so that on the strength of their hit single “Mrs. Robinson,” the soundtrack album rose to the top of the charts in 1968.
