Singer Patsy Cline appeared on Arthur Godfrey’s nighttime television show, where she performed “Walking After Midnight.”
1968
Jimi Hendrix recorded a cover of Bob Dylan’s “All Along The Watchtower” at Olympic Studios in London. In 1968, the track was released in the US as a single, peaking at No.20 on the charts.
1968
The soundtrack to The Graduate, an American comedy/drama directed by Mike Nichols, was released. The film boosted the profile of folk-rock duo Simon & Garfunkel, so much so that on the strength of their hit single “Mrs. Robinson,” the soundtrack album rose to the top of the charts in 1968.
1978
The soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever started a 24 week long run at No.1 on the US album charts. The album sold over 30 million copies worldwide, making it the best selling soundtrack album of all time.
1984
Soul singer Jackie Wilson died at the age of 49 after being in a coma for 8 years. Wilson suffered a massive heart attack while playing a Dick Clark show at the Latin Casino in New Jersey on September 29th, 1975. He fell head first off the stage while singing “Lonely Teardrops,” and remained in a coma until his death 8 years later.

Bon Jovi is the debut studio album of American rock band Bon Jovi, released on January 21, 1984 in the US. Produced by Tony Bongiovi and Lance Quinn, it is significant for being the only Bon Jovi album on which a song (“She Don’t Know Me”) appears that was neither written nor co-written by members of the band.

Adele was at No.1 on the US album chart her second studio album 21.The album, which included five hit singles such as “Rolling in the Deep,” sold over 26.4 million copies worldwide.
