1967
Jimi Hendrix played his first British concert, on a bill with Cat Stevens, The Walker Brothers, and Englebert Humperdinck at the Rainbow Theatre in Finsbury Park, England. On a whim, Hendrix set fire to his guitar with lighter fluid for the first time, but burned his hands so badly that he was admitted to a nearby hospital. The Fender Stratocaster burned on stage was sold for £280,000 at a 2008 London auction of rock memorabilia.

Led Zeppelin’s album Presence was released.
1982
The Doobie Brothers announced their break-up, after twelve years together.
1984
Kenny Loggins started a three-week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with “Footloose,” the theme from the film with the same name, a No.6 hit in the UK.
1989
Guns N’ Roses released their single “Patience.”
1995
An audience member rushed the stage at a Jimmy Page/Robert Plant concert at The Palace in Auburn Hills, MI, determined to stab the guitarist to end his “Satanic” music. Two security guards that apprehended him were stabbed instead.

Known as the “Queen of Tejano Music,” Selena was a beloved Latin recording artist who was killed at the age of 23 by the president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldivar. Saldivar had been fired for embezzlement.
1998
The video for Good Times, the only movie to star Sonny & Cher, hit stores. The video included an unreleased version of “I Got You Babe.” The movie was made in 1967.
1999
It was announced that tickets for the Cranberries’ forthcoming U.S. tour would only be sold via the Internet at www.cranberries.com.
2015
Steven Tyler announced that he was working on his first solo country album. On April 6th, it was announced that he had signed a record deal.
