Actor/singer Patrick Swayze was born on this day. (1988 US No.3 & UK No.17 single with Wendy Fraser, “She’s Like The Wind”). Swayze died from pancreatic cancer on September 14th, 2009.

Funeral services for Elvis Presley were held at his Memphis estate, Graceland. Stars in attendance included his “Viva Las Vegas” co-star Ann-Margret, James Brown, and actor George Hamilton. Held in Graceland’s living room, It lasted from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and was led by Woodale Church of Christ pastor C.W.
