British boy band The Wanted was not allowed to look at Britney Spears in the face while supporting Spears on her recent tour, the group told New York radio station Fresh 102.7.
Last November, The Wanted were personally invited by Spears and her management company to open for the singer at her Manchester show. Since then the group has had nothing but good things to say about Spears and their experience with her. That’s all because the group had to sign a confidentiality agreement that they would not reveal what really went down on that November night in Manchester.
“We signed a confidentiality thing that we should never say anything about what happened, but let’s tell it anyway,” Tom Parker told Fresh 102.7.
Siva Kaneswaran recalled, “I was in the hallway with me tour manager. Basically we were looking with a laptop, trying to get wifi…facing the middle of the hallway. [Britney’s] bouncers came down with her and told us to face the wall.”
“As Miss Spears is walking through,” Tom elaborated. “We’re like come on!”
“We turned around and I faced a wall for about 10 seconds until she got really far away,” Siva added.
This is not the first time The Wanted has had something to say about one of pop’s biggest performers.
Following a performance on The Voice, Tom Parker had this to say about Christina Aguilera to New York’s 92.3 NOW: “She’s a total bitch! . . . She might not be a bitch in real life, but to us, she was a total bitch. She just sat there and didn’t speak to us. Wouldn’t even look at us.”
The group would later apologize for the comments made about Aguilera to TMZ saying,”We shouldn’t have said it, to be honest with you. We just think manners cost nothing, you know what I mean?”
Band member Jay McGuiness was quick to clarify that they were not slamming Spears like they did with Christina Aguilera on 92.3 NOW.
“But honestly when we actually met [Britney] person to person, she was so down to earth. You can tell she’s a total southern girl and Nathan, when he was a kid, won a singing competition. She was one of the judges or something. And she gave him a kiss, it was one of his first kisses as a kid. So he got to meet her again and support her.”
The group even took a picture with Britney backstage at her show in Wembley. She would later tweet the picture saying, “So the boys from @thewantedmusic came to my Wembley show & we hung out backstage! Love them!”
