The Wanted, aka the U.K. group that is losing the boy-band battle to One Direction, wants to move to the U.S. to launch their own television show.
“We’re looking at getting a TV show in the U.S. and we want houses over there to have a base,” Tom Parker revealed to U.K. publication The Sun. “We’re also in the frame to record a song for a big film sequel and we might get a cameo in it.”
Although Parker did not reveal which film the group may be making a cameo in, the group has soundtrack experience. Their song “Chasing The Sun” was featured in the latest installment of the Ice Age series Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.
The Wanted plan on releasing their third studio album The Strike in 2013, but don’t expect it to sound anything like what you’re used to.
“A lot of people have said it sounds like Scissor Sisters or the Bee Gees on the chorus,” Parker mentioned. “The first listen everyone is like, ‘What the f— is that?’ Then you get into the vibe. Not everyone likes it but we don’t want to stick to one thing. All our songs are quite different.”
Will The Wanted’s new album win over all the hearts that are screaming for One Direction right now?
“I was reading a review the other day which gave [“I Found You”] one star and said we’d ‘injected helium’ into our scrotums,” Parker added. It seems like The Wanted aren’t as “wanted” as expected after all.
