The Killers will ‘Definitely’ Release an Album in 2012

In an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe Brandon Flowers announced that The Killers will ‘definitely’ release an album in 2012.

“It’s just whether it’s [released in] the summertime or the wintertime,” said Flowers.

The last album released by the  band was 2008’s Day & Age that included the singles “Human”, “Spaceman”, “The World We Live In” and “A Dustland Fairytale”.  Day & Age would go on to sell over 3 million copies worldwide.

Since the early 2010 hiatus of the band, Brandon Flowers released his solo album FlamingoFlamingo debuted at #8 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart thanks to its debut hit single “Crossfire”.

Flowers is definitely glad to be back in a four-piece group.

“It’s just exciting getting everyone in the room to make some noise,” Flowers told Lowe.  “It’s quite a bit louder that with my solo thing, so I’ve got to get used to that.”

Although Flowers has stated that the new album will have a mix of styles from the group’s previous records, he admitted that they are not looking to “throw a curveball”.

“I think the consensus within the band is to take those things that we’ve done well and really hone in on that,” he said.

“We don’t want to make Hot Fuss 2 or Sam’s Town 2, or Day & Age 2.  We’ll maybe take all that stuff, the best of all of it and do what we know how to do.”

A release date for the upcoming untitled album has not been announced but Flowers told Lowe that the first single off the album will probably be “Battle Born”.

“It’s definitely a killer on the record.”
