The latest song from Taylor Swift’s forthcoming album “1989” was released to the public at midnight and has already skyrocketed to the top of iTunes.
“Out Of The Woods” was co-written and produced by fun.’s band member Jack Antonoff, along with Swift. Though it may never become a single from the album, she explains to USA Today that “it’s the greatest example of the sound of this album.”
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Swift revealed that the lyrics from the track were inspired by a snowmobile accident with an ex, which ended in the emergency room. She sings: “Remember when you hit the brakes too soon/Twenty stitches in a hospital room.” Fans speculate that the song is about One Direction’s Harry Styles, who suffered an injury to his chin while the pair was still together.
The 24-year-old continued to explain how she managed to keep the incident out of the media. “You know what I’ve found works even better than an NDA?” she said. “Looking someone in the eye and saying, ‘Please don’t tell anyone about this.”
Meanwhile, Swift’s current single “Shake It Off” slid down from the No. 1 spot, and is now No. 2. The pop song has been sitting at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks.
Swift took to Instagram to post her excitement about the success of her two songs, writing, “HOW. AM I. SUPPOSED. TO HANDLE THIS.”
“1989” will be released October 27th, 13 days from now. Until then, be sure to check Swift’s Twitter page continuously as she counts down the release of her pop album. She will be debuting a new song each week, while also posting one lyric from each of the 13 tracks for the next 13 days. If you didn’t know already, 13 is her lucky number.
