Taylor Swift followed through with her promise that she would donate the proceeds from her song “Welcome to New York” to the city’s public schools.
A spokesperson for the New York City Department of Education revealed to Capital New York that the singer has made a donation of $50,000.
“We’re deeply appreciative of this kind gesture to donate her proceeds of the single ‘Welcome to New York’ to benefit NYC public schools,” Devora Kyle, the press secretary for the department of education, stated.
The “Style” singer made the promise during an appearance on The View last October. “It’s selling really, really well, which is good because I’m donating all my proceeds to New York City public schools,” Swift had said of “Welcome to New York.”
It is unclear if this was a one-time donation or if Swift is going to continue donating the proceeds from the song.
