Taylor Swift has announced that she has a new record coming out, with the first single due out soon. She made the news in a in YouTube webcast Monday night (08/13/12) while interacting with her legion of fans and answering plenty of questions.
The country superstar also debuted the album cover for Red and said the album would contain 16 songs.
“I wrote so many songs for the album that it was hard to choose the ones that would make it,” said Swift. The first single from Red is “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” and will be available on iTunes tonight at midnight.
The main difference between Red and her previous album is that she collaborated with several of her favorite songwriters.
“I’m so excited for you to hear the music, and the new direction,” she said. The album will contain a duet with British musician Ed Sheeran that the pair co-wrote together.
Red hits stores October 22.
