Spice Girls Reunite For Musical

Posh, Scary, Baby, Sporty and Ginger, aka the Spice Girls, have reunited to launch a musical based on their songs.

“Viva Forever” will be the title of the musical which will be written by British comedian Jenifer Saunders and produced by Judy Craymer (“Mama Mia!”). It has been 12 years since Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Halliwell split up back in 2000 and seven years since their Las Vegas reunion tour performance.

The group appeared on Tuesday in London announcing the “Viva Forever” musical to the press. With all five girls together, it was a huge media event in Britain. “I don’t think it took us any convincing at all” said Chisholm, “Its something we’ve spoken about a lot over the years”. All thought as for the musical its not clear enough yet what level of involvement the girls will have in producing it.

“Viva Forever” is based on hit songs like ‘Wanna Be”,”Spice up Your Life” and “Viva Forever”, but it won’t be about the girls themselves and how they got their fame like in their 1997 “Spice World” movie. The musical will be about a group of girls auditioning for a TV talent show, but emphasizing on friendship and girl power, which the iconic Spice Girls are known for. “We’ve talked about girl power for a long long time and we’re hoping to introduce it to a whole new generation,” mentioned Beckham.

“Viva Forever” opens up on December 11th at Piccadilly Theater in London.
