Soundgarden Will Rock iTunes Festival at SXSW

Seattle rock group Soundgarden will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their album Superknown at SXSW. The group will perform the album in its entirety for the first time as they headline the first night of the iTunes Music Festival in Austin on March 13.

Soundgarden members Chris Cornell, Matt Cameron, Kim Thayil and Ben Shepherd reunited in 2010 after the group originally split in 2007.  The band then dropped, King Animal, in November 2012.

Soundgarden has announced plans for a deluxe expansion of their hit album Superknown that will be released on June 3rd.  The Grammy award winning hits “Black Hole Sun” and “Spoonman” will be included on the album along never-before-seen photos of the band by photographer Kevin Westerberg.  Superknown debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has sold more than 5 million copies in the U.S.

The iTunes Music Festival at SXSW will be streamed live via the iTunes store, while those with iOS devices or Apple TV will be able to use the iTunes Festival app to stream the show in HD.

The iTunes Festival lasts five nights of SXSW and includes performances from Coldplay, Pitbull, Keith Urban, Willie Nelson and Imagine Dragons.
