‘Smash’ Star Megan Hilty Signs with Columbia Records

Megan Hilty has a co-starring role on NBC’s hit drama Smash and now is a major label recording artist. Hilty has been signed to Columbia Records through Sony subsidiary Masterworks, which has typically been the label home to classical music releases. The 30-year-old Bellevue, Washington native spent seven years on Broadway (Wicked, 9 to 5).

Her fellow “Smash” star Katharine McPhee is also signed to Sony. The American Idol alum signed with Columbia back in June 2011.

The actress said that she’s currently working on demos but there is no word on when her debut album will be released.
