Selena Gomez’s first solo album is on track to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. If achieved, it will be the singer’s first #1 album.
Selena has had one heck of a week. The singer celebrated her 21st birthday on Monday and decided to release her first solo album the following day. Stars Dance has already skyrocketed to the #1 spot on both iTunes and Amazons MP3 charts, beating Jay-Z’s Magna Carta…Holy Grail and Marc Anthony’s new release 3.0.
In order for Gomez to guarantee the #1 spot, Stars Dance needs to sell at least 90,000 copies in its debut week. The feat is very possible, but in order to achieve it she must have the largest sales week of her career. Selena’s most recent (and highest selling) album, When the Sun Goes Down, sold 78,000 copies in its debut week while she was a member of The Scene in 2011. Luckily, Selena is well on her way thanks to the success of the album’s debut single “Come & Get It,” which has already climbed its way up to the #6 spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
Stars Dance is Selena Gomez’s fourth studio album and first solo album since she departed The Scene in 2012.
