Scooter Braun, Justin Bieber’s high-profile manager and Schoolboy Records CEO, went on a Twitter tirade against the Grammy Foundation after his superstar client received ZERO nominations for industry’s biggest night.
“I just plain DISAGREE,” Braun tweeted. “The kid deserved it. Grammy board u blew it on this one.”
The 31-year-old manager is irate that the Grammy’s didn’t offer a single nomination to the Biebs after the lead single from his new album Believe broke numerous records within the industry.
When the music video for “Boyfriend” was released online on May 3rd, the video broke the VEVO record for having the most views within a 24 hours with 8 million, later beaten by One Direction’s “Live While We’re Young.” The song also became the second-highest-ever digital sales debut in the United States when the single sold 521,000 units within the first week of release.
While fans ate up the song, critics considered the song “immature” and “silly.”
“The hardest thing to do is transition, keep the train moving. the kid delivered. Huge successful album, sold out tour, and won people over,” Braun continued on Twitter. ” He deserved to be recognized and I don’t really have any kind nice positive things to say about a decision I don’t agree with.”
Scooter’s artists didn’t completely miss out on the Grammy nominations though. Newcomer Carly Rae Jespen’s “Call Me Maybe” is up for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
“Congrats to @carlyraejepsen,” Braun wrote via Twitter. “Thought u deserved a best new artist nom, but proud Call Me Maybe got u 2 noms. so proud of u.”
Is Scooter being a cry baby or does he have a valid point? You decide.
