ScHoolboy Q Debuts at #1 on Billboard 200
ScHoolboy Q’s recent major label debut, Oxymoron, has landed him the number one spot on the Billboard 200 album chart after opening with 139,000 copies sold.
Oxymoron is the biggest first week sale for a rap album since November of last year. Signed to Top Dog Entertainment/Interscope, ScHoolboy Q’s debut release is the first #1 album for Top Dog. Previously, Kendrick Lamar’s 2012 release good kid, m.A.A.D city was Top Dog’s highest charting album after taking the #2 spot on the Billboard 200.
Although Oxymoron is ScHoolboy Q’s first major label release, it is not his first charted album. In 2011, his independently released album Setbacks peaked at number 100 on the Billboard 200 after selling 17,000 copies. His followup album Habits & Contradictions peaked at number 111 with 48,000 copies sold in 2012.
