Sam Smith Hints He’s Singing the James Bond ‘Spectre’ Theme Song

Grammy Award winner Sam Smith has dropped a major hint on social media that he is recording the theme song for the upcoming James Bond film, Spectre.

On Monday, the singer posted the following picture on Twitter and Instagram, but did not caption it:

The black and white photo shows a hand (presumably Smith’s) wearing a ring with an octopus symbol on it, which is the logo for the criminal agency featured in the James Bond universe called SPECTRE, Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion.

Previously, it was rumored that Smith, Ellie Goulding, Radiohead, Lorde, Lana Del Rey or Ed Sheeran would be singing the new theme song.

Adele was the last singer to record a Bond theme. Her track for Skyfall won a Golden Globe and an Academy Award in 2013. Other artists who have done a Bond theme include Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, Tom Jones, and Nancy Sinatra.

Spectre hits theaters November 6, 2015.
