Rod Stewart Receives Knighthood at Buckingham Palace

Rod Stewart was knighted Tuesday by Prince William at Buckingham Palace in London for his “services to music and charity.” The British singer is now called Sir Roderick David Stewart.

Stewart’s wife, Penny Lancaster, and two of his sons, Alastair and Aiden, were present for the ceremony.

The “Maggie May” singer revealed to BBC News that he discussed music with Prince William.

“We talked about music and he said: ‘It’s great that you’re still going’, and I said: ‘I have to – I’ve got eight children!’” he said. “He congratulated me on my long career – and I said how happy this made me. I just wish my mum and dad had been here to see it.”

Stewart had been recognized on Queen Elizabeth II’s Birthday Honours list back in June:
