This week “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke (featuring T.I. and Pharrell) is at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for its seventh week. The feat now makes “Blurred Lines” the longest running single at the #1 spot for the year.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s “Thrift Shop” previously held the record for most weeks at the #1 spot earlier this year with six nonconsecutive weeks between February and March. The last time a song spent more than seven weeks at the #1 spot was last year when Maroon 5’s “One More Night” reigned supreme from September to November 2012.
If “Blurred Lines” continues on its pace, it will tie 2012’s most successful song, “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye, which spent eight weeks at the top of the chart last year.
