Robin Thicke Gets First No.1 Album On Billboard 200

Robin Thicke has continued his run of blurry success.  The R&B singer landed his first No. 1 album on Wednesday (Aug. 7) as his latest record, Blurred Lines, topped the Billboard 200 album chart thanks to the success of its #1 title track.  “Blurred Lines” has become the year’s biggest hit with nine weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Thicke’s sixth studio album sold 177,000 copies in its first week, marking the singer’s highest first week sales ever in six releases.  His second best first week sales came in 2008 with Something Else, which debuted at number three selling 137,000 copies.

The album’s lead single, “Blurred Lines,” featuring T.I. and Williams, has become the year’s biggest hit with nine weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and yielded an eyebrow-raising, nudity-filled video.

The single also climbed back to No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Songs chart this week after being knocked off by One Direction’s “Best Song Ever” last week. “Blurred Lines” sold 400,000 downloads this week, bringing its total digital tally to 4.2 million since its release in March.

Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines is available for download on iTunes.
