Radio Icon Casey Kasem Is Missing
Where is famed radio DJ Casey Kasem? That is exactly what Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel Murphy wants to know.
The judge appointed Kasem’s daughter Kerri Kasem her dad’s new temporary conservator after a lawyer for Kasem’s wife said the radio icon had been “removed” from the country without warning.
“We’re going to find him, take care of him and love him,” daughter Kerri Kasem said in a statement. “He’s going to be with family, not stuck in some unfamiliar place where he’s dying alone.”
Casey’s children from a previous marriage have been battling with wife Jean over access to their dad. Recent reports have indicated that the radio legend, now 82, suffers from Parkinson’s disease, can no longer speak and is fed through a tube.
Craig Marcus, an attorney who appeared on Jean Kasem’s behalf at a hearing Monday, said he did not know where the radio personality was but that he was “no longer in the United States.”
The judge responded by saying, “Your statements concern me even more.” He then issued the ruling to locate Casey.
Casey Kasem is best known for his many years as the host of the radio countdown show “America’s Top 40” as well as providing the voice of “Shaggy” in the “Scooby Doo” cartoon series.
