This week Paramore earned their first #1 album with the release of their fourth studio album Paramore. The band knocked Justin Timberlake off the top spot after his three week run at #1 and outsold Brad Paisley’s new release Wheelhouse to earn the #1 spot on the Billboard albums chart.
The self-titled album sold 106,000 copies last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Down from a quintet to a trio, Paramore is the band’s first release in four years. Brand New Eyes, released in 2009, debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200.
“Can’t even believe today. Thank you so so much to everyone who picked up our album this past week!” lead singer Hayley Williams wrote via Twitter. “This is the coolest thing ever. Honestly.”
Brad Paisley’s Wheelhouse took the #2 spot with 100,000 copies sold while Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience fell to the #3 spot with 98,000 copies sold in its fourth week. Timberlake has sold over 1.5 million copies of his album since its release last month.
