One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson Signs with English Soccer Team

One Direction member and teen heartthrob, Louis Tomlinson, signed a non-contract with U.K.’s Doncaster Rovers Football Club last week.

Louis has a history with the Doncaster Rovers.  He played a special soccer match for their charity, the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, last October and even had a job with the club before his One Direction days. Steve Uttley, Head of Media for the Rovers stated, “He actually worked in our burger bar during matches when he was younger before he became famous.”

Louis hopes to fit in enough time for training with his team and even a game this fall, while juggling a new album, worldwide tour and the band’s 3-D movie, This Is Us, hitting theaters later this month.

The club posted two tweets clarifying the purpose of Tomlinson’s deal with them, “just to confirm Louis will only play one game for the develop squad to raise funds and awareness for Bluebell Wood & DRFC,” and “Louis will not be making any money from this, his sole aim is to raise funds and awareness for this charity for which he is a patron.”

Louis seems very excited to fulfill a childhood dream of his and sign with the U.K. team tweeting, “Amazing day for me, such an honour to be part of @drfc_official ! Who’s gonna come to a game 🙂 ?”

His favorite position is left defender and he was given jersey number 28 by the club, so keep an eye out for him on the field!
