Moments after the Olympic opening ceremonies ended, music from the event was released for download. Thousands, in fact, purchased the music which included tracks by David Bowie, The Pet Shop Boys, Chemical Brothers, Dizzee Rascal, Emeli Sande, Arctic Monkeys and Underworld.
The soundtrack from director Danny Boyle’s event has already reached number 5 on the British and American charts after just two days of release. It has also topped the iTunes album chart in Britain, France, Belgium and Spain.
Universal Music has announced they will also release an album of the London Olympics’ Aug. 12 closing ceremony, which will feature British acts including The Who.
