Shortly after pop sensation Justin Bieber finished the last stop on his worldwide Believe tour, an Oceans 11-style heist took place at First National Bank Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Oceans 11 enthusiasts’ managed to chisel a tunnel into a safe room at FNB Stadium Sunday night after Bieber’s concert. The robbers then used ropes to lower themselves down into the safe room where they stole all the cash earnings from the show, an estimated $330,000.
Local authorities’ believe the heist was an inside job and no arrests have been made, nor have any suspects been identified. Stadium Management CEO Jacques Grobbelaar said that FNB Stadium had 4,000 employees working Bieber’s concert Sunday night. Out of those 4,000, a list of suspects has been narrowed down to about 60 to 70 people.
The stadium will be on lockdown while police study closed-circuit TV footage for evidence as they investigate the theft.
