The musical legacy of Michael Jackson continues five years later with the scheduled release of “Xscape,” a collection of previously unreleased tracks from the late King of Pop. The collection will include eight new tracks which have been “contemporised” by several big name producers including Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome “Jroc” Harmon and Jackson estate executor John McClain.
“Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with,” said LA Reid, the project’s executive producer who was granted unlimited access to the treasures of material on which Jackson had completed his vocals. “We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world.”
The album’s title track, which was originally recorded for the 2001 album “Invincible,” but failed to make the final tracklist, was written and produced by Jackson and Rodney Jerkins. The track is said to be the only song that has been modernized by its original producer Rodney Jerkins.
Michael Jackson’s new posthumous album “Xscape” will be released on May 13 via Sony’s Columbia Epic Records, which was Jackson’s record label for three decades. The album is available for pre-order on iTunes and elsewhere.
Michael Jackson died at age 50 on June 25, 2009, while preparing for his “This Is It” comeback tour.
