New Foo Fighters Album ‘Almost Halfway Done’

Earlier this year. the Foo Fighters revealed that they were working on their eighth studio album, but didn’t disclose any specific details. Garbage drummer Bryan David “Butch” Vig, drummer  is co-producing the upcoming Foo Fighters album, along with Steve Albini, and has opened up on the process. When speaking with Kerrang!, the legendary producer became more vocal about the album’s progress and sound.

Vig claims the record is half-finished, and confirms reports saying the band has been recording in 12 different studios, across 12 different cities. “We’ve been recording at some different locations, but we’re almost halfway done with the recording and it’s going well,” said Vig.

Vig also says that the band has been experimenting with new sounds on the album and recording with previously unused recording techniques. He says that there will be a different “feel” to the record compared to the band’s previous efforts, like 1999’s “There Is Nothing Left to Lose,” 2002’s “One by One,” 2007’s “Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace” and 2011’s “Wasting Light,” which all won Grammy Awards in the Best Rock Album category. “It sounds different – we’ve thrown a few things into the mix, in the recording process, that are going to give the record a different sound and a different feel. It’s been a challenge, but it’s also been exciting.”

Fans can expect to hear something exciting and fresh from the Foo Fighters come the album’s release. “I know what it sounds like and I honestly think the entire concept is really going to take people by surprise and it sounds nuts,” said lead singer Dave Grohl.
