Mumford & Sons Debuts at #1

British rock band Mumford & Sons has landed the top spot with the release of Babel and is headed for biggest debut of the year.  The second full length album Babel from Mumford & Sons killed the game on Wednesday topping at #1 on the charts, and could possibly double Justin Bieber’s album release Believe from last year.

According to Billboard the first tracking week of sales for Babel will end on Sunday, but the band is on the way to possibly to having the biggest sales week so far in 2012. Mumford & Son’s album ‘Babel’ is their first #1 debut and could be one of the biggest sales for a rock band since AC/DC’S 2008 album release of Black Ice.   The band is also on their way to hit a record for the second biggest digital sales week with an expected of 400,000 downloads.  Lady Gaga’s Born This Way previously sold 662,00 downloads.

Not bad since their first album debut Sigh No More, released back in February 2010, slowly sold around 4,000 copies.
