Michael Jackson Jurors Making Excuses to Avoid Jury Duty

Lawyers for AEG and the Jackson family are having a tough time sorting through the 104 potential jurors for the Michael Jackson wrongful death lawsuit.  In a Los Angeles courtroom on Monday, lawyers heard some weird excuses from potential jurors trying to dodge jury duty for a case that is expected to last two to three months.

One juror claims it should be karma that should determine whether Michael Jackson’s death was caused by negligence, instead of a jury.  Another juror claims she can’t serve because she has to renew her drivers license three months from now in July.  Neither of the two jurors were immediately dismissed from potentially having to serve.

By the end of a full day of questioning on Monday, lawyers from both sides had reduced the number of potential jurors from 104 to 87.  Some of the jurors were dropped from questioning after revealing that they knew at least one person on the potential witness list.

Possible witnesses in the trial include Prince, Diana Ross, Quincy Jones, Sharon Osbourne, Spike Lee, Lou Ferrigno, Jackson’s ex-wives Lisa Marie Presley and Debbie Rowe, as well as AEG’s founder Philip Anschutz and former CEO Tim Leiweke.
