Let Me See Ya “Wobble Wobble”

There is no rest for the wicked dear friends. I was planning on
catching up on some rest on this glorious Saturday morning when the phone rings and BackstageOL.com’s Dave Morales hits me with
“dude, do you know about the Wobble Wobble?”

When am I going to learn not to answer the phone on weekends?

If you spend an inordinate amount of time at dance clubs, wedding
receptions or you happen to be a dj spinning to the drunken masses, you know that Wobble Wobble is the hottest dance craze at the moment.

Didn’t we just finally get rid of the Cupid Shuffle?

Play this track at a party and get the hell out of the way because everyone will charge the dance floor (at least that’s what I can surmise from YouTube).

But where did it come from, and more importantly, what does it want?

For enlightenment I turned to our staff dj in residence, Triple G. According to the sage of everything old school hip hop and new school block rocking, a track called “Wobble Wobble” appeared about three years ago. The song was by 504 Boyz and it was no more than a regional hit at best. However, somewhere between that recording and V.I.C.’s more recent “Wobble,” the dance known as Wobble Wobble has caught fire. All my peoples in the ATL know what I am saying!

The dance itself seems to be the reason that song has come back and
like a flu bug, once it hits a club near you it will spread quickly and methodically until everyone is infected. There is really nothing we can do expect let it take its course. And remember, just because you haven’t caught it yet doesn’t mean you won’t be sick tomorrow.

Google “Wobble Wobble” at your own risk. I warned you!
