Lady Gaga revealed the gruesome details of the hip injury that caused her to cancel the remaining dates of her Born This Way Ball tour.
During an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, she talked about her hip fracture and how close she was to needing a hip replacement.
“When we got all the MRIs finished before I went to surgery there were giant craters, a hole in my hip the size of a quarter, and the cartilage was just hanging out the other side of my hip,” Gaga explains. “I had a tear on the inside of my joint and a huge breakage. The surgeon told me that if I had done another show I might have needed a full hip replacement. I would have been out at least a year, maybe longer.”
During her long break, the 27-year-old singer had time to build up her brain and body while focusing more on her new album and app, ARTPOP, due to be released in November. In anticipation of her upcoming album, Gaga will perform her brand new single “Applause” at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 25. You can expect her performance and outfit to be just like the artist, fun and fabulous yet unpredictable.
