Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has unveiled the 16 nominees that could be inducted at the 29th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Nominees include LL Cool J, Nirvana, KISS, NWA, Cat Stevens, Chic to even ‘60s British Invasion group the Zombies and British progressive-rock group Yes.
Repeat Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees include Stevens, LL Cool J, Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, Deep Purple, KISS, N.W.A. and the Meters. Singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel ,who is also nominated this year, is already a member in the Rock Hall due to his association with Genesis, inducted in 2010.
To be eligible, all nominees must have released their first single or album at least 25 years before the year of nomination. Voting is open to fans online staring today at www.rockhall.com/vote and will continue until Dec. 10th. Inductees are selected by a panel of 600 music biz authorities, including musicians, execs and writers. The top 5 voted nominees will be on a “fans ballot” list that will count towards the final vote.
The ceremony will be held in April 2014 in New York and will be broadcasted on HBO.
