Katy Perry gets trippy with her new single “Dark Horse,” exploring a more edgy sound.
With the release of Prism only a month’s length away, pop superstar Katy Perry has unleashed the second track from the highly anticipated forthcoming album. “Dark Horse” is built around icy rhythms, pounding drums and chopped-up vocal samples.
The new single made its debut online at 12:01 AM on Tuesday morning (Sept. 17), and is predicted to be one of the standouts on Perry’s third full-length album Prism, due out on Oct. 22. “Are you ready for, ready for/ A perfect storm, perfect storm?” the pop superstar asks during the track. Prism is Perry’s follow-up to her 2011 album Teenage Dream. The 16-track deluxe version of “Prism” is now available for pre-order on iTunes, with lead single “Roar” and “Dark Horse.” “Roar” spent a second week at No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart last week, after becoming Perry’s eighth chart-topper.
