Katy Perry Launches Own Record Label

Pop superstar Katy Perry has made a major businesses move and launched her own record label called Metamorphosis Music.

The “Teenage Dream” singer announced the news on Tuesday, June 17, via Twitter, writing, “I am so ECSTATIC to finally announce my NEW label Metamorphosis Music & my first signing, the incredibly talented & soulful FERRAS! @ferras.”

Metamorphosis Music is a joint venture with Perry’s current label Capitol Records, which released Perry’s three albums to date – 2008’s One of the Boys, 2010’s Teenage Dream, and 2013’s Prism. The first artist to sign with the brand-new label is pop singer Ferras.

“Ferras is a man with a message, and a unique lyrical way of communicating his perspective on life that makes you feel connected to every note when you listen,” said Perry in a press release announcing the signing. “I believe he is going to be an important artist to watch unfold.”

Ferras will join Perry on the North American leg of her Prismatic World Tour, which kicks off on June 22 in Raleigh, NC and wraps October 11 in Houston, TX.
