Justin Timberlake’s new album “The 20/20 Experience” came close to reaching platinum sales in its first week selling 968,000 copies.
The “Suit & Tie” singer beat a personal record with The 20/20 Experience defeating his last album FutureSex/LoveSounds, which sold 684,000 copies for its release back in 2006. Justin’s new album will debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Album chart when it is officially published, overtaking current top spot holder Bon Jovi.
Timberlake also has the biggest selling release of the year, topping the previous record holder Mumford & Sons’ “Babel,” which has sold 631,000 this year, according to Billboard.
“He was careful in not completely overexposing himself, though it does seem like he was everywhere,” Billboard’s Keith Caulfield said. Justin promoted his new album carefully and did not overflow the media with too many interviews and talk shows. He kept his fans and the media on their feet while choosing key promotional people and places to promote his music such as Jimmy Fallon, Target, iHeartRadio, iTunes and Saturday Night Live.
