Singer Justin Bieber has released a statement following the death of paparazzi photog Chris Guerra, who was killed Tuesday after chasing Bieber’s Ferrari.
Bieber says, “While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim. Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves.”
Guerra was hit by oncoming traffic while trying to get photos of Bieber’s vehicle after police stopped the white Ferrari for speeding in Los Angeles. Bieber was not driving the vehicle nor was he a passenger in the car.
According to police, Guerra was ordered by California Highway Patrol officers to return to his vehicle, which was located on the other side of the road.
