The list of nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced Tuesday and include several first-time nominees. An artist’s first single or album could not be released after 1991 in order to be eligible this year.
First-time nominees include Journey, Pearl Jam, Bad Brains, Tupac Shakur, Depeche Mode, Electric Light Orchestra, Jane’s Addiction, Joan Baez, and Steppenwolf. This year marked the first year of eligibility for Peal Jam and Tupac Shakur.
The other ten nominees are Chaka Khan, Chic, Janet Jackson, J. Geils Band, Joe Tex, Kraftwerk, MC5, The Cars, The Zombies and Yes. This is the eleventh time that Chic has been nominated, a Hall of Fame record.
For the fifth year in a row, fans will be able to vote online for which artists should be inducted at https://www.rockhall.com/. One ballot may be submitted each day until voting closes on December 6th. The top five artists voted by fans will make up the “fans’ ballot.”
