Joan Jett Could Front Nirvana for Rock and Roll HOF Induction Ceremony

Nirvana will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Thursday, and it looks like Joan Jett may be fronting the band for the occasion.

Nirvana’s drummer Dave Grohl sparked the rumor when he posted a photo to the Foo Fighters’ Instagram page. The photo shows Krist Novoselic’s bass, Pat Smear’s Strat, Grohl’s drumkit and what looks to be Joan Jett’s Melody Maker.

It was previously speculated that R.E.M.’s lead singer Michael Stipe would perform with Nirvana. However, this photo appears to put an end to that rumor. Stipe, who was a friend to the late Kurt Cobain, will induct the group at the ceremony.

Jett and Grohl have previously collaborated a few times. Grohl helped pen the track “Any Weather” on Jett’s latest album Unvarnished, which was released last year. Back in 2011, the Foo Fighters appeared with Jett on The Late Show With David Letterman. Grohl and Jett also recently presented an award together at the 2013 American Music Awards.

Nirvana will be inducted into the Rock Hall at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center along with Peter Gabriel, KISS, Cat Stevens, Linda Ronstadt, Daryl Hall and John Oates, and Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band.
