Jay Z Drops Hyphen From His Name

Jay Z has made a minor tweak to his name. The Brooklyn rapper—formerly known as Jay-Z—has ditched the hyphen and changed his name to Jay Z.

Billboard editor Joe Levy broke the news on Twitter: “Breaking: Jay Z has dropped the hyphen from his name, according to his label. I am not kidding. (Wish I was.) Copy editors: take note.”

Billboard has since dropped the hyphen from articles and charts mentioning the rapper’s name.

With his latest album Magna Carta Holy Grail in the No.1 position on the Billboard 200, so is his new name. The new Jay Z is sitting atop the Billboard throne for the whole world to gaze at in all its un-hyphenated glory.
