Incubus Ready to Relaunch From Scratch

Since Incubus’s last release in 2011, If Not If Not Now, When?, band members have been busy with side projects of their own during their break. Front man Brandon Boyd released a new solo album titled “Sons of the Sea” in 2013 and is now getting ready to star in the upcoming arena production of “Jesus Christ Superstar”. Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger has been working with Avicii to produce his hit single “Wake Me Up”, which reached the top of the chart in 39 countries last year. Now Incubus band members have been talking about reuniting to make music together again in the beginning of 2015.

Boyd mentioned that this time the band might take a more independent route for their next album. “”We lived out the entirety of a 17-year record contract,” Boyd told Rolling Stone magazine during a press release for Jesus Christ Superstar. “We’re without a management company. We don’t have publishers. We don’t have publicists. We’re like babies right now, except that we’ve been a band for 20-something years.”

Brandon mentioned that the band is seeking a more relaxed environment for making their next album, rather than the high-pressured world of major record labels. He did go on to thank the record labels for the opportunities they had provided for them in the past.

“There are really wonderful things, too. We get to keep making music; we’ve been afforded the opportunity of being a band. But there’s a big part of me that’s really looking forward to making music without any sort of parent situation lording over us,” Boyd added.
