Houston area native Danielle Bradbery was won the fourth season of the NBC singing competition The Voice. The 16-year-old country singer beat the Swon Brothers and Michelle Chamuel to take top accolades on the show Tuesday night.
Bradbery performed Buddy Holly’s “Timber, I’m Falling in Love” with coach Blake Shelton before singing “Maybe It Was Memphis” by Pam Tillis and Sara Evans’ “Born to Fly” on the final performance episode of the season.
“I feel like that showed people all the vocals I can do,” Bradbery said about her performance of “Born to Fly” after Monday’s show. “It had everything – really powerful — everything I could show.”
After Monday night’s episode Bradbery’s version of “Born to Fly” shot its way up to the #2 spot of the iTunes chart. The single remained in second place throughout Tuesday afternoon, and since iTunes sales count as votes on the show, Bradbery was instantly considered the favorite to win the show.
“Born to Fly” isn’t the first time the country singer has made her way up the charts. Throughout the season Bradbery broke into the Billboard Hot 100 on three separate occasions, proving she really is a star.
