Guns N’ Roses – Are They Back?

Axl Rose may have turned into Howard Hughes in the last 15 years and he may have also been the driving factor in the breakup of Guns N’ Roses, oh yeah and he did take longer to make one record than almost any other artist in rock history but if you can put all that aside and still get excited about any and all news from the gunner’s camp then here’s a little nugget for you. According to the band’s website, they have named a new guitarist in Dj Ashba. The move means that current NIN guitarist Robin Finck who was holding down the job is out (at least for now). Ashba was last seen wailing on the guitar alongside Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx in the band Sixx AM. He was also a member of Beautiful Creatures (I’m guessing a rock band from L.A.).

At this point Axl has made more roster changes to the Guns lineup than anyone can keep track of without a scorecard. The current group will hit the stage to kickoff the latest leg of the Chinese Democracy tour on October 2nd, in Rio de Janiero, Brazil for the Rock in Rio Festival. The tour then slowly winds its way north through central America and Mexico throughout October. Fans in the U.S. will be able to satisfy their “appetite for the delusional” in November.

Mr. Rose is probably crazier than a peach orchard goat under those braids but he knows that GNR fans will still come out in droves to get a taste of what once was. The truth is that you would be hard pressed to find a larger and more loyal fan-base for any rock band still in existence. Is it really the Guns we grew up listening to? No. Is Slash going to forgive Axl and call Izzy and the boys for one more go round?Probably not. So short of spending a Saturday night at your local House of Blues listening to one of the millions of Guns N’ Roses tribute bands out there, Axl’s traveling circus is as close as you are
gonna get.

Note: Tickets go on sale this Friday, September 30th for the GNR show
on November 4th at Toyota Center in Houston.
