Gucci Mane Negotiating 20 Year Prison Sentence

Gucci Mane may be able to negotiate a deal to avoid trial and a possible 20 year prison sentence.

According to court documents, Gucci Mane and U.S. federal lawyers asked a judge to push the original set trial date of April 15 to a later date to work out a plea deal.

“All parties anticipate resolution without the need of a trial” the court documents state.

Gucci Mane, real name Radric Davis, was arrested for two incidents of threatening police with a gun back in September 2013. Davis was charged in December 2013 with two counts of possessing a firearm as a felon and faces up to 20 years in prison for it. He could avoid a trial by negotiating a plea deal with the federal lawyers, which he may be working out now. The deal could possibly result in there not being an additional trial date and possibly less time behind bars for Davis.

“The parties believe they may have resolved this matter subject to certain approvals including a meeting with the Court,” the court documents read. “However, due to various schedule conflicts, counsel have been unable to finalize the matter and given defense counsels respective absence from the jurisdiction over the next week, will be unable to finalize the matter prior to the trial date.”
