‘Glee’s’ Alex Newell Signs Major Record Deal

Glee star Alex Newell, who plays Wade “Unique” Adams on the show, has signed a major record deal with Atlantic Records.

Newell will work with Glee’s music executive producer Adam Anders on his upcoming album for Deep Well Records, a division of Atlantic Records that is owned by Anders.

“While working with Alex on Glee, I immediately realized how broad and unique his talent was and knew that he would be a great addition to the Deep Well/Atlantic Records family,” Anders stated.

Craig Kallman, chairman and CEO of Atlantic Records added, “Alex is such an undeniable talent with one of the most unique and distinct voices I’ve heard in a long time.”

Newell won a role on Glee by being a runner-up on the first season of Oxygen’s The Glee Project. He was originally supposed to have only a two-episode arc, but his character was so popular that his role was extended to become a series regular for the show’s fifth season.

“I am thrilled to join this new family and take another step in my career,” said Newell. “Singing is my passion and to now have the opportunity to make my own music is a dream come true! I can’t thank my new Atlantic and Deep Well family enough for welcoming me with open arms.”

You can catch Newell on the big screen when his teen comedy, Geography Club, opens in theaters on Nov. 15.
